One Little Drop. Make a difference, make your drop.

about

War. Poverty. Global Warming. Domestic Violence. AIDS. Genocide. Rape. Homophobia. Racism. Religious Intolerance.

It's overwhelming, isn't it?

That's exactly how I felt--like the only way I would ever be able to make a difference is if I stopped working and devoted my life to non-profits. Other times, I felt like I donated money to various causes but I could never afford to donate very much--what kind of difference was I making? And did it really feel better, deep down inside, to just hand over cash? What about making a direct impact on someone's life?

After awhile, all of those words above--war, poverty, global warming, etc.--can make a person just throw up their hands and sigh: "Well...we're all going to die anyway. What can you do?"

When I started to look around in my own world, however, I realized that there actually are things that I can do. I teach part-time at several local community colleges, and every semester I have a handful of students who can't afford the books or school supplies. What a difference it would make if they had these supplies! Or I would hear about some great, under-appreciated local organization that needed help getting the word out about what they were doing, and to them, a small monetary donation really does make a huge difference for what they can do in their communities.

That's when I started One Little Drop. You are one little drop. I am one little drop. Together, we are a lot of little drops and eventually those little drops can add up to something with substance.

This site's goal is to raise awareness that to change the world, you do not have to donate every penny (and feel guilty that you cannot donate more). Instead, I want to encourage people to do what they can--their little drops--and know that they really are making a difference in the world...one little drop at a time.

what do we need?

You. Just you, and whatever you have to give, even if it's small. Check out the donation page for a list of items that my students need, or find links to under-acknowledged charities and ideas for what you can do to help spread your own little drops all over the world on the resources page.
